Updates & Changes
07/25/04 - Web Ring Criteria Changes
Web sites submitted to this web site must be *your own domain name registered to your own
farm or business* ending in .com, .net, .biz, .org, etc. We no longer accept personal home
pages or pages published under the "free" type host providers in a subdirectory
such as Homestead, Yahoo, Tripod, etc. We do not accept new web ring sites that display
third party or free host provider's pop-up advertising. Sorry - no exceptions.
This does not affect previous members' sites already in the ring.
However, if your site is dropped from the ring for whatever reason, and you reapply, the current criteria will
apply for re-acceptance.
12/09/02 - WebRing Code Updates
It is important, especially for people who may have joined the rings in 1996, 1997,
1998, or 1999 that they update
their web ring code and personal information. Suspended notices have gone out to hundreds of sites
that have not yet updated their ring codes. Following receipt of a suspended notice, ring members
have 7 days to replace their outdated code. Following that period, any site with outdated ring code
will be dropped from the ring without further notice.
08/21/02 - Current Member "Important Notices"
Notices went out to current members of the Arabian, Appaloosa, Foundation Breeders, and Horse Products
web rings reminding them to update their membership information, as well as install a current copy
of the web ring navigation code(s). This potentially affects upwards of 800 members who may have
outdated navigation web ring codes installed on their web page(s). It is important that unless they
have just recently joined, they migrate their
old information to the "new" system. Judging by the multitudes of bounced emails following this
mailing - members need to update their personal information, as well :) Sorry if this email didn't reach
those with invalid email address... but we did try.
Members of the Quarter Horse web ring will be notified regarding same in the near future. If you are
a member of the Quarter Horse web ring and have not updated your membership information and
navigation code, this will be required very soon. Now is an opportunity to
get everything in place before the
Quarter Horse member notices go out.
08/13/02 - Oh no! I got a Suspended Notice!
Don't panic! This just means the automated web ring validator thinks it has found something
amiss when checking your web site. More information can be found here.
08/11/02 - Flies In The Ointment
Parsing thousands of different web sites within these rings have turned up
hundreds and hundreds of bad links, dead URLS, and dysfunctional web ring code.
These sites have been suspended from their respective web rings until the
code is repaired, replaced, or the links can be verified. Email notifications have
been auto-generated and sent to the webmaster of record for each site suspended.
It is the ring member's responsibility to keep their web ring information
current and update their information when it becomes necessary. Please do not
email the ringmaster and ask this to be done for you.
If a web site remains suspended without being "repaired", it will
automatically be dropped from the web ring after 7
days. The web site owner will need to re-apply to the ring to re-join.
08/10/02 - Equine Web Rings Back To Business... Almost
With renewed faith and the return of the original web ring system, it
will soon be back to business as usual. All new sites applying for web ring membership
(in these equine web rings) will be put into the queue until after August 24, 2002.
This transition period will be used for the ringmaster(s) of these equine web
rings to validate several thousand sites and revise each web ring's
application forms.
